20 Things About Me Tag

Wednesday, 17 December 2014 13 comments

         Hey, hey!

         I was tagged by Eileen at BookCatPin to do this awesome and quick tag so you all can get to know me a little better! So, let's begin!

1. I'm 14 and in Grade 9. I always feel proud when talking about my blogging hobby because I personally don't know anyone who also does it. :)

2. I live in Canada, and have actually undergone so much snow last week that I got to stay home since my bus to school was cancelled, haha.

3. My most favourite thing in the world other than reading, blogging and writing is traveling. I've already been to so many places, I can't wait to see more.

4. My star sign is Leo, and I've always felt some sort of connection to my horoscope. Many people don't believe in that sort of fate, but oh well, haha.

5. The thing I want to improve on the most in blogging is commenting. I feel so much guilt when I don't get too many chances to spend hours looking at all of your posts! That's a definite thing I need to work on.

6. Over the years, I've realized that my music liking has changed drastically. Of course, I once liked cheesy pop songs that were on the radio, (since I was a tween not too long ago) but Panic! At the Disco, 5 Seconds of Summer, Lorde, Lana Del Ray and Imagine Dragons are my alternative favourites to be honest.

7. My most favourite thing about blogging is the friends that I've made, and the building of my writing skills. When I was in dark times, I felt like blogging and all of you were always there for me.

8. The first time I got a physical copy in the mail, I cried. It was in May of this past year, and I got Dissonance by Erica O'Rourke and Of Metal and Wishes by Sarah Fine from Simon & Schuster, and I adored them both.

9. I am such an overly-obsessed neat freak, and an overachiever and perfectionist. Everything needs to be scheduled, written down and organized in my mind, haha. I guess that's the way I read, too.

10. I've always had dreams of becoming an author one day—I'm always still hoping that I'll get to become one. At the same time, I'd like to go to medical school as well.

11. My all-time favourite author has to be Cassandra Clare. All of her books are perfection.

12. The only time I've sorta met an author was when I was in a Toronto Book Festival in September. I must say that I only saw K.A. Tucker, but didn't get to speak to her because of time limits, hehe.

13. My favourite TV show has to definitely be Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries and Under the Dome, which I have to get caught up on with all three this Christmas break.

14. I have a crazy obsession with Nestea. Like it's all I need to drink for the rest of my life as well as water.

15. I have a little sister who's honestly obsessed with Archie Comics, as I once was. We have so many old issues!
16. I honestly used to be so against e-readers. I had so many arguments against them and why they weren't worth it, until I discovered my Kindle, and then my life changed completely.

17. I'm also in love with anime, but haven't gotten to watch an episode since April, since I honestly can't control myself and my grades would drop—trust me. Christmas break is the time where I'll get caught up on everything.

18. My favourite film that really hasn't been known much about is How I Live Now. It's crazy, because I read the book and watched the movie all in one day. Saorise Ronan is awesome.

19. I can speak French pretty fluently since we have to learn it in school and Polish. I really want to learn some Russian one day, as I can understand a teensy bit.

20. I began blogging in March 2013, and I must say that I've learnt so much and at the same time, I've grown up a lot. My grammar used to be horrible!

Yay! That's a wrap!

I nominate:

How I Did With My Halloween Tag

    So you may be thinking and wondering... How did this master of blogging manage her Halloween book tag post?

         Horribly.

          But in a way, that's totally okay, right? It's not like the po-po are going to be out to get me. I actually only managed to read 2 of out of the books that I selected—Orleans and A Little Something Different.

           *frowns* It's not like I'm going to go out and put all of the books in the pile away or into a dungeon or something like that—I'm going to continue reading them pile by pile, as I said I would. I'm only writing this post because I said that it would last until Halloween.

             What stopped me? School. Crazy to admit, school's been crazy and I haven't had much time to manage everything as I did back in elementary school. There's like 3 tests every week, and homework takes me at least 2 hours. Then, what's left there? Relaxing, eating, and some reading if I have time. The time after school feels like it flies so fast. But I'm really glad that I do get to manage to post everyday on the blog. *breathes in and out* I definitely need to give myself a pat on the back for that.

               What could I have done better to finish this challenge? Lots. I mean, I could've been more organized by not procrastinating and reading something else at the moment when I was supposed to read something from the tag.

                   Most of you decided to pick me to read thick reads, so that's what I decided to begin with. :)

                   Thanks for voting, wonderful people. I've disappointed myself, haha, but really, what could I do?

A Thousand Lives Lived's Halloween Spookabookish Readathon

Monday, 6 October 2014 8 comments

   I love the month of October—there's always so many things that are going on! The season of fall really begins to heat up and that always creates those rainy Saturdays that give you the perfect opportunity and feeling to read a good book while being cuddled up in a blanket with a mug of a pumpkin spice latte... but there's also Halloween.

    I've actually never have done a Halloween bookish tag or event on my blog before, but because I feel like I'm in the total mood for it, why not host my own Halloween readathon event?

    A Thousand Lives Lived's Spookabookish Halloween Readathon!

   This isn't your average bookathon where you've only got two or three days to read a specific number or genre of books, I've planned this to be done all through the month of October! I'm a little late with the starting date, but you can begin whenever! I'm planning to begin ASAP!

      How This Works: Create a pile of books that you need to read that's titles begin with H then A then L and so forth until you spell out the word, "Halloween." There's no really specific genre of books that you can go by, but make sure to read them in whatever order you'd like!
      This is great because it will help you choose different reads or go through your TBR shelf faster... Since I am a very fast reader, I'm going to try and read two "Halloween" piles! Here they are!

         (Thick Reads) I didn't really choose my piles to have specific genres, so they're all mixed with what I can find in my bookshelf: contemporary, dystopia, sci-fi etc. These are basically all thicker reads that are going to take me a longer time to finish!

            (Thin Reads) I couldn't find another book in my shelf that begins with "O," so I chose to go with Quarantine instead, haha.

             So here's where I need your help! Help me choose which pile I should begin with! If you choose pile 1, I'll begin with the "H" of that one and then move on to the "H" of the next pile, then go back to "A—"in that order, basically. Choose with the poll, please!

Which pile should I begin with?
Pile One (Thin Reads)
Pile Two (Thick Reads)

     If you choose to participate in this readathon with me, it'd be awesome if you leave a link below (Name @ Blog Name) to your introductory post so I can see your choices!

The Ten Book Challenge

Thursday, 2 October 2014 5 comments

First of all, let me send a HUGE thank you to the magnificent PaperbackPrincess @ Young Adult Book Reviews  for tagging me to do this!

So basically the rules are to list 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. I have so many of these, so I'm really excited to share them with you! *makes an one hundred book challenge instead*

1. A Mad Wicked Folly, by Sharon Biggs Waller

     I loved this book to death. Maybe it holds a place in my heart so deeply because it's one of the only historical fiction that I give a million stars to? Damn, but really, Will Fletcher was the hottest male character ever. ;)

2. Dissonance, by Erica O'Rourke

       *tears up when sees cover* MAN OMG MY FAVOURITE BOOK OF 2014 AND ONE OF MY FAVOURITES EVER! It was the first physical ARC I've ever gotten and the best parallel-universe story, ever. AHHH.

3. The Secret Diamond Sisters, by Michelle Madow

        Every time I remind myself of the feelings that I received when reading this book, I squeal. I just want to remind myself what it felt like to read such a beautiful empress of literature again! (Even though it was only a few weeks ago, hehe.)

4. The Host, by Stephanie Meyer

        YESYESYESYESYES. I read this in a few hours, fell in love, and went to see the movie release day and bought all of the other books associated with it and the movie. Call me a fangirl, haha. IT STOLE MY HEART and it has such a special place that makes me clench up with happiness every time. I need a sequel.

5. Clockwork Princess, by Cassandra Clare

         AH! This trilogy changed my life. This was the best ending to a series that I've ever read about, and the characters ended up to become my best friends—Jem, Tessa, Will, Charlotte, Sophie, Gabriel, ALL OF THEM. Cassie Clare truly surprised us and whipped us around. I bought and read this on publishing date and cried like a maniac and I ended up spoiling myself by looking at the map at the back of the dust jacket. Heh.

6. Hate List, by Jennifer Brown

           I'd have to say that this is probably the most moving book I've ever read. There were flaws, but flaws = perfection, so I was touched by the concept and feelings that it gave me. I never looked at this book the same afterwards because it moved me.

7. This Star Won't Go Out, by Esther Earl

               Gorgeous Esther Earl is my inspiration. Her story did more than touched my heart and threw my emotions around—it inspired me and she made the world a better place. She inspired me to do so many things and helped me realize what else there is in life. I don't know what I'd do without this book. :)

8. Isla & the Happily Ever After, by Stephanie Perkins

                 Stephanie Perkins is amazing. Stephanie Perkins is a goddess. Stephanie Perkins can make you tear up in a snap. Stephanie Perkins's books are my life-savers and pure literature excellence. Isla, especially. Best book of the trilogy and the most wrecking but gorgeous.

9. Throne of Glass, by Sarah J. Maas

             ToG brought fantasy reads to a whole 'nother level. It showed me that books can be diverse and different, and it made me fall in love with love-triangles all over again as I once did. It is still to this day one of the best books of my life, and I adore this series inside and out!
10. The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins

       Who can forget about the book that I seriously praise and thank everyday (more to the author I guess, haha) for bringing me to YA when I was just 9 years old. After that summer day in August, I never turned back and doubted my decisions with blogging and reading. I LOVE YOU SUZANNE COLLINS. ^_^

~~~
     So there goes my choices. These ten books inspired me, changed me, twisted me around, dropped me a few times, made me cry, but most of all, they're special and are in a special place in my heart called love and thanks. :)
Ten people I tag:
Celine, Melanie and Larissa @ YA Midnight Reads
Dre & Kate @ Sporadic Reads
Braine @ Talk Supe
What books were so touching that they stayed close to your heart?
