The Book Thief Movie Review

           After re-watching this movie a few weeks ago, I've come to realize that I've never have written a review for this gorgeous movie—yet. So here, let's talk about this gorgeous movie that will shed you to tears—like a waterfall.

          

              A little over a year ago on a bright and chilly Saturday, I decided to pick up the book that everyone was talking about at the moment—The Book Thief, and little did I know that my life was about to change forever, reading in the point-of-view of Death, who is speaking about a little German girl named Liesel Meminger who only wanted to have freedom and read.

             That's what it's mainly about, if you haven't read it yourself. Liesel is now an orphan, and has come to live with a foster family who are Nazis and believe in something that Liesel sure wouldn't approve of in her old "life" before everyone died around her. What keeps her going is books, including The Gravedigger's Handbook and the Jew that has come to live with her foster family in a state of horrible time.

               

             YES. The thing that upsets me the most in this situation is that there's a lot of hate on this movie when there really shouldn't be. This is such a heartwarming but tragic story that will shatter you and leave you close to dead. I watched it twice, and bawled both times since the emotions and storyline is always there.

             The great thing to keep in mind here is that it's better if you read the book before watching the movie. I obviously cried in the book as well, and it's so difficult now to choose between book or movie, because they were both done in such a spectacular way. They both deserve more fame than anything else.

              Liesel, played by Sophie Nélisse, was an excellent young actress. The way I imagined Liesel when reading the book was Sophie. I'm stuck on not knowing what else to say here because all of the characters suited my imagination—and hopefully, every other readers'.

              World War II is a subject that I'm very fond of, because there are so many loads of different tragic stories and survival stories, and this was just one that was fictional, but for sure took place in many people's lives. Liesel was a memory and a keepsake of different lost lives all smushed together in one young character who inspired all of us to not forget about the things that matter the most in our dark times.

                 The ending... Well you'll have to see that for yourself, because it's too tragic to even think about because I'm already tearing up. Let me just tell you...

                That this was an amazing film that more people need to see. It's definitely one of the best book-to-film adaptations ever.

The Maze Runner Movie Review: I LOVED THIS

            Years ago, back when I was a fetus, (okay not literally) I read this book, and absolutely hated it. But who can blame the fetus 10-year-old me? Really, who reads a dystopia hard-concept novel at the age of 10? I did, people. Well, I unfortunately DNF-ed this, and I never looked back at it and had any guilt that I disliked it... until this day, in 2014, when the movie changed my life and made me regret not finishing the book. 

              The Maze Runner was one of those movies that gives you panic attacks and you will leave the theatre like a wreck, where you'll be unable to believe that it was that amazing. The story was fantastic, the actors captured the true image perfectly, and I know what boxed set I'll be asking for Christmas this year. ;)

                NO. DON'T YOU DARE SAY THAT YOU REGRET WATCHING THE MOVIE OR READING THE BOOK. Because you will stand there, like a dummy, realizing like you were wrong the whole time. JUST LIKE I DID. I can't believe that I was left so happy, and so glad and thankful to have seen this.

                 Basically, here's a summary for those of you who've lived under a rock and never heard of this book or don't know what the concept is.

                 Thomas basically wakes up in a box that's escalating upwards. He's in it, and panics. He has no idea where he is, who he is, or what's going on. 

            When he comes to, a bunch of guys are all around him, surprised with his arrival. Apparently he is now known as "Greenie," and the first person to let him know this is Gally, this stern strong dude also known as Will Poulter.

                Everyone around him soon notes that they're all in the Glade, and the maze is found all around them. No one knows what's in the Maze, except for the Maze Runners. The world is unbelievable and know one understands what's the reason behind everything and why everyone's there. 

                Thomas soon finds himself settling into the Glade and its eerie atmosphere. There's a lot of guys who support him and are helping him out in this time of confusion. One of those people are Alby, a man who came to be the first person who had to spend one month on his own in the Glade. 

       One day, the Maze Runners and Alby decide to go into the Maze for a few hours before its walls close up for the night. As everyone begins to await their return, they soon find out that they won't return and they'll be stuck inside the walls with the Grievers, creatures created by the Maze's creators. 

      As the walls begin to close that night, everyone spots the Runners right beside it, but they all know that they won't make it out, since Alby is injured and stung by the Grievers. This changes a person's whole behaviour into something unspeakable. Thomas runs through the crack between the two walls before colliding, and he ends up with Minho and Alby.

        They actually survive the night, and Thomas ends up killing a Griever. No Runner has ever survived the night, as legend tells, and everyone is super-surprised to find them return. As Thomas and the rest of the Gladers begin to discover the truth behind the Maze, a new Glader is added into the crew, and this time, she's a girl. What happens when there's a truth behind everything and you begin to remember?

            This was probably the best book-to-movie adaptations that I've ever seen, and one of my favourite movies. It's easily the best movie of 2014 to me, along with If I Stay. The story was collaborated so well and created just like I can imagine, but even better.

             Can we just talk about how much I love THOMAS AND DYLAN O'BRIEN?

                 I came out of the theatre sweating, panting, and so happy that I smiled from my mouth to my ears. I literally didn't expect THAT MUCH OF A CLIFFHANGER AND PLOT TWIST. I NEED MORE. And that's why I'm going to go out and read the books as soon as I can.

                 Rating? 10/10 ABSOLUTELY.

Don't Miss a Diss #7: If I Stay Movie Review

    Don't Miss A Diss is a weekly discussion post led by A Thousand Lives Lived which features discussions with the book blogger public about the troubles and wishes of bloggers.

   As you may have heard, on August 22, Gayle Forman's book, If I Stay, has turned into a book-to-film adaptation starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Jamie Blackley in different locations around the world. For this week's Don't Miss a Diss post, I will be sharing my review of the movie with you all!  Please guys, stay for this! 

    

     I read If I Stay by Gayle Forman way back in early 2013—at least it felt like it was way back ago. At the time, it was one of the most popular YA novels, and it still is! Who'd think that a movie would be released? I adored the book and gave it a loving 4 stars, and before I knew it, I heard news of a movie being released in August of 2014. It was one year from the date at the time, and I was wondering what'd it eventually turn into.

     More than a year later—and here I am gushing about it. I'd seriously give this movie a wopping 10/10 stars and beyond because it was so amazing. Even if you're not the type to read, then I'd still say to go out and watch this because it's gorgeously hot. And steamy!

       I saw this on the day it was released with a friend. We both went in with high expectations and came out in tears. Shattered, if you ask me. I didn't let anyone talk to me for a full two hours until I came to my senses.

        BRING TISSUES. 

         That's all I really have got to say. And a friend, so you can have someone to gush to when you meet Adam aka Jamie Blackley, my crush forever and always. Or you can be still awesome and gush to the security guard who doesn't care about your opinion. ;) Either way, you'll need to talk about the sexy Adam Wilde and the ship between him and Mia. Oh, and the fact on how quickly the movie's events go by.

      

       The movie was perfect. The creators made this so real and believable. The actors, specifically Chloe and Jamie, were perfect and did a brilliant job re-creating Mia and Adam's story. It's tough to act in a movie like that. The tears need to shed, the feelings need to come out, and you have to intrigue the audience. They made it easy, like a snap.

              won't be the same you you are after watching this movie. Adam just explained it perfectly here!

             So in case you've never heard of If I Stay or its novel, here's a recap on what it's all about. Mia is your average seventeen year old. She plays the cello, and that's her life. Music connects to her and it's her everything. She's currently dating (for the first time ever) Adam Wilde—a sexy, gorgeous, older rock-star who loves her to death. And yes, he loves her when Mia is in a car accident with her hippie parents and younger brother, Teddy. Mia is struck in a coma, but her spirit/soul is currently watching everything that's going on around her. How can this be? This is her story of how she's figuring to stay, or leave, including past events that will shatter your heart.

 

            That will help you really feel what's going on and so you can compare the book's works to the movie's. I can admit that the movie was better than the book, for one of the first times in book-to-movie-adaptation history, according to me, myself, and I. 

                       

              I just would like to talk about the fact how hot and sexy Adam is. JAMIE BLACKLEY IS PERFECT. I WANT HIM AND HIS GORGEOUS HAIR AND BODY AND CLOTHES AND LIPS AND EYES AND VOICE. I WANT WILLIAMETTE STONE. There's so many ways I can express my love for him, but I really have just got to say that he's my #1 most favourite guy in the world. I cry when thinking about how amazing he is. :')

                 The chemistry between Jamie and Chloe was real. I truly wish that they were dating in real life because I ship them so. fucking. hard. But... MEH. The "play you like a cello" scene was steamy and hot and got the whole theatre squealing, even the old men. xD

               And the soundtrack? Holy shit I listen to Williamette Stone's songs everyday. I need to get an iTunes card so I can buy the whole freaking album because Jamie's voice calms me down.

                    This movie will leave you:

• singing along with Williamette Stone's amazing music
