So it's obviously not the weekend, and I know it's Thursday, but who says that Stacking the Shelves is meant to only fall on Sundays? It's a beautiful time of the year! I am heading on vacation in seventeen days (to Mexico!) where I feel like I need a break. My second semester has started off toughly, and I need that me-time. (But that doesn't mean that I will not get schoolwork to take with me for the days I miss in between March Break. Egh.)

This is a HUGE haul since I haven't done one in a while. I am excited to share it with you all because (SO MANY ARE ARCS) I am obsessed with them all. Shall we begin? We certainly shall.

My Book Haul:

LOOK AT THIS. Before I get started, I would like to give a huge thank you to the following publishers for their review considerations (for some of the books of course): Simon and Schuster Canada, Raincoast Books, HarperTeen Canada, Merit Press, St. Martin's Press, Penguin Random House Canada and Hachette Canada! I LOVE YOU GUYS.

Let's narrow it down from here. Simon and Schuster have been amazing and sent me: Hot Pterodactyl Boyfriend by Alan Cumyn and The Last Boy and Girl in the World by Siobhan Vivian. They certainly look pleasing.

HarperTeen sent me Dreamology by Lucy Keating! I have been anticipating it for a long time and the cover is seriously stunning.

As for Raincoast Books, I was sent The A to Z of You and Me by James Hannah and This is the Story of You by Beth Kephart. THEY LOOK FABULOUS and contain a mix of everything I have anticipated.

St. Martin's Press came along with The Violinist of Venice by Alyssa Palombo, an adult historical romance that will hit the heart like all of the WWII ones I've read.

Penguin Random House were so sweet with Red Star Tattoo by Sonja Larsen and The City of the Lost by Kelley Armstrong! HARDCOVERS TOO!

Merit Press ALWAYS REMEMBERS ME! *giggles* The Heir and the Spare by Emily Albright made my day when I found it in the mail last month.

Hachette Canada! Dear Emma, The Immortals, The One That Got Away, The New Guy and Other Senior Year Distractions and The Loose Ends List gave me a huge surprise. *hearts, kisses*

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! I apologize for not making a legit Christmas post, but you have my wishes. May your year be bright and I wish you all a splendid time with family, friends and snow (if you have any). This year, I must say that we are lucky here in Ontario to not have any snow. I DON'T WANT ANY. Snow equals cold which equals a horrible winter. A few years ago I remember a disgusting ice storm which knocked the power out and left the area looking dead. Though I must say it was spectacularly beautiful!

When you're reading this, I will be on my way on a mini road trip to New York City for the New Year! I love the city (but have not seen much of it) since I was stuck at BEA the whole time in May. (Not that it was a bad thing!) I am excited for the museums, cafés and restaurants, scenery and city life! This is a dream come true honestly!

What did everyone get for Christmas, if you celebrate it? I only got TWO books this year, which is a shocker, hah.

My Book Haul:

The A to Z of You and Me by James Hannah: I never knew what this was about and never had heard about it until it was sent to me! I adore the cover and the bucket list kind of vibe that it holds. Woo!

He Will Be My Ruin by K.A. Tucker: Yum! K.A. Tucker is a spectacular author and I am so glad to be able to read about another upcoming thriller of hers!

This is the Story of You by Beth Kephart: Oh, contemporary. Oh, familiarity. This is such a familiar story that will hit my heart, I know it. *heart eyes*

The Violinist of Venice by Alyssa Palombo: Historical fiction is definitely my thing when it comes to a book like this, and I am fantasizing over this gorgeous cover and the music that it holds!

I've finally destressified, if that's a word that makes sense. I had this mega-huge History test on Friday, which literally took out so many of my brain cells and I was left the most exhausted person on the planet. Yesterday, I got to relax and read, which was a first in a long time! 

I'm really excited to showcase this week's haul because I feel like I'm the luckiest person alive. 4 books from publishers? This is a first and I'm very, very thankful and grateful because I know how hard it is to get them. I love Sourcebooks, St. Martin's Griffin and Merit Press to the moon and back! *barfs because that is the most cliché phrase one can use* This week doesn't look too bad for me, as I only have a quiz on Wednesday and that's just about it. Let me cross my fingers because something can come up at any moment!

My Book Haul:

I love this cover! I wanted to take a photo with all of my school yearbooks,
but meh.

The Yearbook by Carol Masciola: Wooo! I really have enjoyed Merit Press's historical fiction novels, and this seems like it'll be another charm for me! Except... this deals with time travel which is fifteen times better than your old average historical fiction story. 

AGH I WANTED THESE STORIES FROM THE START.

Did I Mention I Love You? by Estelle Maskame: This seems like one of those books that'll just be about drama, which is awesome at some points of time. This cover is utter fabulousness. Eee!

The Sister Pact by Stacie Ramey: Aww, sisterhood and friendship! This sounds like a beautiful story and I can't wait to jump into Ramey's world of fiction!

Tell the Story to its End by Simon P. Clark: Horror stories are my guilty pleasures. And why am I guilty? Because I sometimes get scared to death but I adore them anyway.

Happy belated Halloween, to those who celebrate!

This year I really didn't get to celebrate much, but it's all good, I'm in the autumn-fall spirit anyways! I bet that today, everyone is already in the Christmas mood as stores will not be thinking about costumes and candy, but about ornaments and nutcrackers instead! Sorry to mention it if you don't feel in that mood at all.

It's been a pretty great week for me. I went to the Science Centre on a field trip on Monday, and although I'm not a big fan of those kinds of excursions, I had a pleasant time. This week will uphold many tests (at least three of them that I know of today) and they're pretty big ones, since midterm report cards are coming in the week after. Wait until you see the haul I have to show you all below!

Before I get going here, I'd like to thank the amazing team at Raincoast Books for providing me with these FOUR! I am the happiest girl in the world and practically cried when I opened the box.

Young Widows Club by Alexandra Coutts: HOLY MOLY MACARONI! You cannot understand how long I've been aching for this book. It basically yells out my name. I'm totally looking for the themes of loss, grief and romance, all packed into one, the way I like it.

The Last Place on Earth by Carol Snow: ASDFGHIKL! This has the prettiest cover ever and it makes up my life, trust me. Disappearances and romance? Emmy and Oliver hit me so hard and I know this one will, too!

Rules for 50/50 Chances by Kate McGovern: Like them all, I found out about this one a while back and I now own it, which is the weirdest thing to say because I never expected that I would until ages after its release in a few weeks! THANK YOU, RAINCOAST!

Where You'll Find Me by Natasha Friend: Friendship and a powerful read? YES PLEASE. I heard about this one when I went to the Raincoast event a while ago, and I'm so excited to read it!

This Week's Headlines:

It's the most wonderful time of the year... HALLOWEEN IS ON FRIDAY! And please don't tell me that you DIDN'T read that with the tune in your head. The "C" word that ends with a "mas" is still ages away, so don't get your hopes up, haha. I'm pretty excited for Halloween because it's basically the spooky season with those nice rain storms that just makes me want to hide instead and cuddle up with a book, my favourite thing to do if you haven't noticed already. 

What are you all going to dress up as? I'm going DIY again this year and am being Minnie Mouse. Pretty simplistic, but I like the look. *blushes* 

School's been okay for me, the workload is beginning to get heavier and heavier since midterm marks are coming in mid-November. This means that it'll be the halfway mark of the semester, which has already gone by so fast! I have a ton of essays and assignments due soon, so my reading time will be declining. Ugh.

My Book Haul:

Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs: The last book is here, HOORAY! I have been anticipating this one forever. I have a poster of it in my room which I got at BEA and I've been eagerly, angrily sitting here waiting for Ransom to release this. And now, I HAVE IT. AGH!

The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters: You're not going to believe the bargain I got this one for! $1! RIGHT? I purchased it from my library and there even wasn't any stickers or anything, like brand new! I'M SO EXCITED FOR IT!

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard:  Finally! This was one of my most anticipated reads and I'm so glad that the library allowed me to have it in my hands! *giggles*

The Appearance of Annie van Sinderen by Katherine Howe: I read Katherine's debut YA book, Conversion, a few weeks ago and I was very excited to see that she has a new book! This will be fab I bet.

The Unquiet by Mikaela Everett: Most anticipated HarperTeen book of the year. WOOOO! This deals with parallel universes and cool stuff. I love the cover, too.

I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios: FRIENDSHIP, TEARS AND ROMANCE? AWWW! This will be my first Heather Demetrios book and I'm enchanted, that's for sure!

IT'S THE WEEKEND! And it's a long weekend for me... which makes everything ten times more fabulous. Less homework, less worries and stress. I have nothing to worry about for the next two days, haha. Yesterday was a stellar day where I headed to the amusement park next to my house with my close friends! I didn't go on any new rides, but it was great to catch up with some news! 

TODAY IS WORD ON THE STREET IN TORONTO! In case you haven't heard of it (you probably haven't), it's a bookish festival where books are sold and authors visit! I'll be holding a recap as well as one of the other book event I attended a few weeks ago, but I'm really excited about it!

My Book Haul:

Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys: IT WAS A SHOCKER WHEN I RECEIVED THIS IN THE MAIL! I had requested it and I'm so excited! I love Ruta's writing and this won't disappoint, that's for sure!

The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury: WOOO! Aladdin retellings are the cutest and this looks like the newest, best thing ever. I love Jessica's writing!

HEY Y'ALL! I'm back from Florida! If you saw my post, I guess you'll be able to tell that I had a fantastic time. Everything went smoothly, and although I had to go on a mini-hiatus, I'm back and ready to start obsessing over new reads again! I did read a lot though over there and I'm super excited to show you all my new haul below!

School starts in a little over a week, and I'm a little overwhelmed but happy as well. I miss my friends and actual learning, if that sounds weird. I'm about to start reading Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and am SO happy for that, hah.

The Escape by Hannah Jayne: So I received an eARC of this but it looked so good that I decided I needed it so bad in physical!

The Summer After You and Me by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski: Romance? Hurricane destruction? I love these wonderful things that interest me!

Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton: FINALLY, IT'S MINE! I HAVE WANTED THIS BALLET-DRAMA READ FOREVER AND I HAVE A COPY! *cries*

The Cellar by Natasha Preston: I really enjoyed Preston's Awake, and this book sounds like it has a great concept again!

Stacking the Shelves #48: August 2

This Week's Headlines: 

Guess who's crying? ME. But it's all because August is FINALLY here and that means that there's a little over a month of school left. But then again, I'M GOING ON VACATION ON FRIDAY! Florida (once again as every year), here I come! I'm so excited as it's one of the best places for me, my second home and comfort area. And of course, I'll be reading a ton there. 

We'll be driving a 22 hour ride in total from Toronto to southwestern FL and I love road trips, so this should be interesting. The next time we have this post, I'll be there already, spending my first full day out on the beach, perhaps!

My Book Haul:

First There Was Forever by Juliana Romano: So excited for this one! The cover captivated me instantly and I love contemporaries with friendship. I'll be bringing this one with me on vacation!

Perdita by Faith Gardner: This looks awesome! It's definitely my kind of read with a ghostly concept and all. Woo!

Until We Meet Again by Renee Collins: I missed getting this one at BEA, BUT I'M SO GLAD I FINALLY HAVE IT! It's beautiful.

Stacking the Shelves #47: July 19

This Week's Headlines:

Greetings! Last week I completely forgot about setting this post up, and I didn't really have much time to do it at the last minute. *shrugs* How was everyone's week? Mine went pretty well, if I do say so myself. I spent a big chunk of my time at home, where I've been reading and trying to catch up with my reviews. At the moment as I'm writing this, I have 2 more to write! *cheers* Starting Monday (tomorrow), I'll be back and ready to comment on everyone's blogs! Just hit me a comment below if you'd like some fellow bloggy love! It's one of my biggest goals for the summer, to become a better blogger, and I'm ready to do it. Plus, me beginning to catch up on everything I've missed and learning how to keep commenting will help me out while on vacation in Florida next month. :)

On Wednesday I headed to the city, Toronto, with a friend, my sister and my mom! I always love heading to the city because of its busy atmosphere and the endless amount of things to do. If I really wanted to explore it all, it would take me weeks! We headed to a large shopping mall that I somehow never have been to, ever. They had a gigantic bookstore inside, but didn't get anything as I'm kind of on a book buying ban? Kind of. I just have so many to read and I feel like passing out every time I stare at my shelves. And then there's the BEA books, of course. 

This summer's going by so slowly, and I'm so thankful! There's still almost 2 months left! 

My Book Haul:

*plays royal music* DUN DUN DUNNNN! Yeah, I know, they're so beautiful. I GOT THE HEART OF BETRAYAL OHMYGOD AGHHHH YAYAYAY! Excuse me for my fangirling, it's just that I've been waiting for it all year! (Left 3 are library books, right 4 are purchased)

Tease by Amanda Maciel: This is a 2014 debut that's been on my list before it even hit stands. I'm so glad to finally have a copy borrowed from the library with its new gorgeous paperback cover! Bullying is a subject that's not found so often in YA so it'll be a great new adventure.

Second Star by Alyssa B. Sheinmel: Peter Pan? A retelling? Modern day? I'm so in. Like Tease, this is a 2014 read that I've wanted forever. Wendy's the coolest chick in all fairytales, just saying.

Wildlife by Fiona Wood: I haven't read the first book in this contemporary series, but I'm pretty sure that it doesn't matter the order you read them in because it features different characters/storylines. This has a beautiful cover and seems to be that perfect summer romance story!

Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern: John Green and Rainbow Rowell's pure stellar writing mixed together. This is my kind of read. I received a copy of Cammie's second book at BEA, and I kind of wanted both at the same time so I can binge them if I enjoy one. Plus, I purchased this in a 2 for $15 deal with Half Bad!

Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline: I remember discovering this one through my awesome mom, who thought that it would be such a good read, and now I've gotten a copy! It sounds similar to Orphan Number Eight, a new book that is being released soon that I saw at New York City.

Half Bad by Sally Green: So I'm not the biggest fan of paranormal novels, but I wanted this for the longest time for some reason. Hopefully it'll satisfy my expectations and needs of a great book!

THE HEART OF BETRAYAL BY MARY E. PEARSON: As I mentioned above, FINALLY. I love the cover (of course) and I'm going to read it right now, or next or as soon as possible. FINALLY MY BABY IS HERE.

How to Be Bad by E. Lockhart, Lauren Myracle and Sarah Mlynowski: All of my favourite authors, jam packed together for a summer road trip read? I think this gears towards my style! What a magnificent cover! *heart eyes* Ah, that's the sound of enjoyment.

Stand-Off by Andrew Smith: Hey pretty! Hey birds! Thanks a million to Simon and Schuster Canada for sending me a copy of the sequel to Winger, which I just borrowed from the library to binge-read the two! *sends hugs* You guys certainly know how to make me smile!

Those were a lot of books, I have tons of reading to do!

Stacking the Shelves #46: June 28

This Week's Headlines:

Hey y'all! It's officially summer vacation after Wednesday being the last day where I got to see my final exam grades! I did fabulous in all of my subjects, I must say. All of that hard work and studying definitely paid off! I love those moments when we realize that we've finally been doing something great in our lives.

I'm actually planning on starting a new row of posts called: My Bookish Summer Includes... where I will be talking about one goal for my summer or something that I'm planning to do with my blog, my reading, or just in general! I'm really looking forward for my editing and photography skills to shine in this segment. 

Some other things that I'm planning on doing? Waiting for my report card by the mail, bumping my Netgalley/Edelweiss ratio up (everyone needs to work on this!), read, fix my blog using some tweaks and new formatting and traveling! Woot!

MACBETHHHHH!

So as you've most likely read in my Romeo and Juliet review a few weeks ago, I am in love with Shakespeare's writing. I was planning to buy a copy of another one of his plays, and when I was shopping at this cool home store, I found an unique copy of Macbeth in the aisles, the last copy available! And it was only $13. OMG. That's truly a bargain, and it's so beautiful that I'm probably going to keep it in my room forever, even after I finish reading it.

• I couldn't believe it when I found out that Meg Cabot would be releasing a new book in the Princess Diaries series. Royal Wedding was fabulous, though a little slow-paced!
• I also reviewed the first adult book by Judy Blume for me, In the Unlikely Event. This wasn't as good and heart-warming as her other novels, but was a nice, sweet read to keep me going.
• This week's WoW post was all about Richelle Mead's newest, Soundless! Hear the story about how I missed my chance to grab a copy of it at BEA!
• None of the Above was one of the most anticipated 2015 reads for me, and it's the perfect read to get in the pride mood for y'all. It's a definite favourite!
• Want a super sappy sad read? The Last Time We Say Goodbye is all you need for the rest of your life, trust me.

Stacking the Shelves #45: June 21

This Week's Headlines:

Happy Father's Day, wonderful dads, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, I don't know! You are amazing individuals and inspirations to so many young people, and we all praise you! 

So... GUESS WHAT? I'm finally, finally done my exams! Last weekend I felt like I was going to pass out when hearing about that horrifying word, but I've made it through: Religion, Science and English. WOW. I'm a graduate of Grade Nine and survived my first year of high school! (I'm not exactly sure how... but I did.) Sitting in a room with thirty kids who all may have studied more (or less) than you is pretty intimidating, and I'm so glad to say that I'M DONE. One more day of school for me on Wednesday to discover my marks and IT'S SUMMER. But I'm already calling it summer at the moment, to be honest.

It's been a wonderful week weather-wise as well. I love how the temperature isn't so crazily humid that my eye sockets feel like burning up—it's the perfect, windy weather in the mid 20s. And then today is our first muggy day. I'll let you know how that went.

I JUST SAW JURASSIC WORLD AND I LOVED IT. Usually dinosaur premises kind of bore me and seem unrealistic, but CHRIS PRATT MADE EVERYTHING WONDERFUL. It's a great adaptation that seemed to have had so much work put into it, and was a true success! (4/5 stars, definitely.)

A million thank-yous to St. Martin's Press for a finished copy of Hello, I Love You by Katie M. Stout! It has one of the most unique premises for contemporary, AND WHO DOESN'T LIKE K-POP? LIKE HONESTLY?!

Post office —> P.S.? Get it? Hah. Hah.

I finally have a copy of the stunning P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han? I read the first one and absolutely adored it—Jenny's books are simple comfort reads!

Stacking the Shelves #44: June 14

This Week's Headlines:

I've been such a horrible blogger this week. Hah. I mean, there has always been something to do for school, and there was even one night where I didn't even take a peek at my blog—Thursday. I literally died after I realized this. I had to write an essay, study for a test, practice for two presentations, and deal with the stress that exams are coming this week. WOW. This year has gone by so fast and I'm so excited for the summer! I'll be reading like a maniac, that's all I'm planning to do. 

Yesterday I went to the library and I came back with a huge splurge of books, which you'll see below. And then I also began with my BEA 2015 recaps, recapping all three days (BookCon and My Overall Thoughts will come later today and tomorrow) which made me the happiest person ever. I loved talking about it and looking through my photos!

I can't believe I'm going to be in tenth grade next year! Wish me luck on my Religion, Science and English exams on Wed-Fri! *sends hugs* How was your week?

The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon: SOO... YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE HOW MUCH I GOT THIS ONE FOR. $1! It's brand-new, from my library's book sale, and I'm probably the first to be reading it. I know I'll love this series, and I can't wait to read the first novel!
