Somewhere Only We Know, by Cheyanne Young
Genre: Young Adult Fiction, Romance, Paranormal
   Rating: 3.5/5 stars
   Publication: June 15, 2014
   Format: ebook

Summary: Sadie Bradford’s life is one anxiety attack after another. All she wants is to escape life's realities for the summer and hang out with her best friend Aaron. But her grandmother has other plans: Sadie will get a job. Sadie will do volunteer work. Sadie will make new friends - friends without brain injuries that make them forget everything...friends that aren’t Aaron.

While Sadie struggles to survive her anxiety with all these new changes, she finds an escape when she dreams herself into the beautiful world of Isola Fiona. It’s a place that cures memory loss and anxiety. It’s a place where she and Aaron can fall in love.

But after dragging Aaron along with her to her dream world, things take a turn. Every time they return home, Sadie’s anxiety is a little better but Aaron’s memory is still gone. And Isola Fiona may not be much of a dream after all. As Sadie realizes that Isola Fiona is as real as her anxiety, she rushes to change the course of fate and make things right, but she may be too late...

     Review:

"The great thing about dreaming is that in dreams, you can do whatever you want. Sure, you may not always realize you're dreaming at first, but even when the scary parts happen, you'll wake up. I never have to stay stuck in a dream that I don't want to be in."

This book was unique and special. Yes, it actually does have a huge meaning behind it, and that was one of the reasons why I did adore this and give it all of my time and pleasure for. The author has a story behind it, and the concept of anxiety and mental disorders make it even more special.

Sadie has lived with anxiety for the past three years, and the only person who could help her feel better at times is her best friend, Aaron, who has short-term memory loss after a high fever when he was young. This summer, Sadie's grandmother would like Sadie to go social and drop all of her worries and get a job and live. One night, Aaron and Sadie are dragged into a dream world where the anxiety is gone. But what's better--the dream world or reality?

I loved the concept of this book. You could tell that it was researched and had a lot of thought put into it to make it amazing. The concept was 100% perfect, and I ended up having no regrets with the way it went with the mentality and reality of the characters. These types of things the characters were going through were no joke, but Sadie's depression and anxiety did begin to fade away as she learnt to live and not worry about the thoughts that haunt her.

Sadie had a huge problem, but either way, I loved her as a character and main protagonist. She was strong and dealt well with her personal demons. Characters like her are truly ones to remember, and I totally praise them up to the bookish gods. *grows a halo* She was a person that created the somewhere only she knew.

          Aaron was... eh.

He was cute and all, but it's not like I chose him to be my book boyfriend or anything. He was just adorable in his own way, but no crush or anything. He was perfect for Sadie, though, and I was glad that he made her feel better through her problems.

The plot was weak at times. It was very thin and the dream world should've been a little more thought through. I found that the characters were put the most thought and detail into, while the world-development stayed at risk and put readers in questioning. I wish that more of my questions were answered, since this was a standalone fascinating story itself. Sure, it was fast-paced and got to the point, but the few tweaks were spotted missing.

"What if you had to give up your whole life here and never see anyone else again? Would you still come with me?" Aaron leans in closer and whispers so no one can hear. "Of course I would."

The relationship that Aaron and Sadie had was indescribable. Their romance and friendship left me breathless, especially because they were so alike in so many ways. Not only because of their emotional struggles, but also because of their personalities and the way they took things. They might have not seen it, but they were really formed beautifully. Let's thank the author for that beauty.

Chey really shocked me by the end. She left many plot twists that really got us thinking about what this novel really meant to the average YA reader. It was a unique read that was fairly enjoyable and absolutely recommended, despite the review tweaks needed to be looked over.

A Little Like Love (Robin and Tyler Series #2), by Cheyanne Young

Genre: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Rating: 4/5 stars

Publication: August 1, 2014, by 336Love

Format: eARC

Goodreads Summary: Robin and her niece Miranda have decided to stay in the tiny but friendly town of Salt Gap, Texas while they figure out what to do with their lives. With only a picture to go by, Robin goes on a scavenger hunt through town trying to discover the link between her late grandfather and coincidence that brought her to the same place.

She’s still afraid of relationships, so when the hot cowboy Tyler starts to get a little too friendly, she’s more than happy to spot all the red flags she can find to help her avoid liking him. Like the waitress Elizabeth and her weirdly close relationship with Tyler. But as Miranda is quick to point out, they’re on a journey guided by fate and that can only mean one thing – if she’s meant to find love in Salt Gap, it will happen with or without her permission.

A Little Like Love is part two of the Robin and Tyler Series. It is a novella at approx. 20,000 words. This is a CLEAN New Adult story.

You need to pick up this and the first novella of this series immediately, especially since this is being released tomorrow. I love reading anything by Cheyanne, and I'd probably read her grocery shopping list. I am now on my way to read everything she's written.

After reading part 1 of this three-novella trilogy, I was instantly in love, and looking for more.

And after reading my review, you'll probably understand why. :)

Robin and her niece Miranda have finally settled in Salt Gap, Texas, where they previously ended up after Robin had a major breakdown which brought her far away from her home in Houston. She ends up renting a house from Tyler, the cowboy that has always liked her more than a little, and things have gotten even more romantic. He wants to go on a date with her, but she refuses, and then when he starts getting friendly with a waitress, Robin realizes that she actually may have feelings for him.

I love Tyler oh so freakin' much. My love for him from the first book until now went like this:

But I've always seen his good side to things. That man is so adorable and so devouring. Reading his catch phrases to Robin just made me feel like a little kid all over again. Adorable and everything I am looking for in a hot fictional hottie. Plus, he's a country boy, which makes everything even better!

The plot in this book has developed to be something great. The whole novella was fast-paced and racing. I couldn't wait to find out what would happen, and how the amazing couple's relationship would grow and become beautiful. I'm very excited to now see how this awesome series is going to end!
My only tiny problem with this book was the character of Robin. I like her, sure, but at times she's too selfish and I didn't seem to like her personality and the way she handles her relationships. She's the type to wait for people to beg her to be with them, lurking for attention. I know people like that in reality, and I don't think I'd like book protagonists to be that way, too. But she was very realistic.

The character of Miranda will always be my favourite. She's kick-ass, utterly hilarious and sarcastic. She's the type that many of us can relate to because of her witty personality and issues.

But really, I love all of the characters in this series, one way or another. Cheyanne always makes them relatable and sarcastic!

In conclusion, this racing sequel to A Little Like Fate was awesome. It's funny and has a beautiful romance! No second-book syndrome here! Third book, come to me!

Review:

*Review copy provided by author, Cheyanne Young, in exchange for an honest review.*

I don't usually ever pick up books that are found in the NA genre, but when I do, I usually find that I made a good choice. :) And this was another of those cases! Cheyanne Young has absolutely stunned me with another of her beautiful novels!

I've never read a NA novella, and this was a great start. For a book with 25, 000 words, you don't really expect much to happen, but Cheyanne Young always makes sure that we're on the edge of our seats, wanting more at the end of each chapter. The stories that she creates are just beautifying.

"Oompa, loompa, doompidy dailure. Robin Carter is a total failure."

My first thought after finishing this book? Hilarious and sarcastic. This author is such a master at making her readers laugh. I must admit, I usually keep a very serious face and feeling when reading books (I sit there reading with a poker face 24/7) but there are a few occasional books that make me laugh so hard. And this was one of them! Cheyanne is awesome, just awesome, at mastering sarcasm, and you could really see it through her witty characters.

Robin made a promise to her dying grandfather--to follow her dreams and do whatever she wants. She quits her life and heads onto the road with her pregnant niece, to wherever it'll take them. They end up in the middle of nowhere in Texas, far from their home in Houston, and Robin begins to regret everything until she meets hot cowboy Tyler, who definitely has his eyes on her.

Robin was a very kick-ass protagonist. She was a rebel and didn't give a shiz on what people thought of her, even her stubborn hilarious niece, Miranda. She stayed put on their situation and always kept smart and had a good head on her shoulders. For a twenty-five year old, she could still act like a total teenager, and still be a mature boss at the same time. I loved her!

Miranda was another total awesome chick. Although she was very dumb to let all of those bad things happen to her, she had that special something about her that not a lot of characters have or show.

I love TYLER. Him and Robin are going to make a spectacular series, I can tell. Not much to say about him, especially because we've only just have gotten to know him, but I really like him and Robin together.

The only flaw that this book came to have was the plot in the beginning and the fact that something tiny was missing. I understand that this was the beginning of the novella series, but I wish that a teensy bit more would've happened, specifically in the romance aspect of the book. The beginning of this novella was very slow, and a little hard to get into. But I kept going hence the dark thoughts surrounding me and I made it and I ended up loving the book. It ended up awesome! From there, the plot picked up!

In conclusion, this novella was great! I'm absolutely pleased with the outcome and I'm eagerly waiting for the sequel! I recommend this to everyone looking for a light contemporary romance!

I'm so excited to do this! ^_^

     1. Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer

Bam. The name and cover explains it all. But seriously, I feel like I'm one of the last people on Earth to read this.

     2. A Game of Thrones, by George R.R. Martin

I'm not normally into medieval high fantasy reads, but this show and book has been so raved about, that I feel like I just need to join the fandom. :)

      3. Midnight Thief, by Livia Blackburne

I have a physical ARC of this, so those always need to be read. :)

       4. Fire and Flood, by Victoria Scott

I don't know why, but I feel like I have to read this, even though I didn't like Victoria Scott's Collector trilogy too much.

       5. Nil, by Lynne Matson

          That captivating summary, though. :O

         6. The Jewel, by Amy Ewing

Allure. One word. Explains my feelings.

         7. In a Handful of Dust, by Mindy McGinnis

The first book was just amazing, and the sequel sounds good. Not too sure about putting it in Lynn's kid's POV, though.

8. Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend, by Katie Finn

Summer. Cute. Contemporary. Everything I'm looking forward for in a YA summer read.

    9. Somewhere We Only Know, by Cheyanne Young

This idea is so beautiful and comes from a tragedy that means a lot to the author. I love Chey's books and this is surely going to be something special and unordinary.

           10. Rough Waters, by Nikki Godwin

Loved the first heart-warming, gorgeous contemporary read, now ready for the second. Nikki Godwin is sure to please, as always!
