Waiting on Wednesday #35: Heartless

Heartless, by Marissa Meyer
Publication: November 8, 2016, by Feiwel and Friends
Genre: Young Adult Fiction, Fantasy, Romance
Pages: 416

Long before she was the terror of Wonderland — the infamous Queen of Hearts — she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.
Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend and supply the Kingdom of Hearts with delectable pastries and confections. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.
At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king's marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship.
Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

THE QUEEN OF HEARTS? MARISSA MEYER? ALICE IN WONDERLAND? RETELLING? Those are just some of the things that initially intrigued me when I set my sneaky eyes on this cover. THIS LOOKS JUST SO GOOD. Marissa Meyer is the author who introduced me to good fantasy fiction with Cinder (I have not read Winter yet! Ugh!), and I just want to continue reading good fantasy. I hope that I'll see this pretty at BEA! ONE. MORE. MONTH. I can handle this!

What are you anticipating the most this week? Are you excited for Marissa Meyer's newest?

  2. This one is definitely on my list too! I haven't finished Meyer's Lunar Chronicles yet (oops, I'm so behind!) but this one is definitely on my list. Alice in Wonderland retellings are always so good.

    1. Aghhh! It's been such a long time since I've read an Alice in Wonderland retelling... I need to be refreshed by the oh-so-classic-fairy-tale story! It's okay, I haven't finished the series either! We're all in this together!
