Stacking the Shelves #50: September 13

This Week's Headlines:

Hey all! So it's actually been a great week, as school has just begun and I attended my second-ever book event in Toronto! My classes are going pretty well, and am stuck with a pile of homework and assignments, and it's just going to be the fourth day. I have Science, Math, History and World Religions this semester, though am pretty glad to have the classes with a big group of my friends.

Yesterday (Saturday) I set off into the downtown core, Toronto, heading over to one of the most gorgeous libraries I've seen (I haven't seen many, though), heading over for Raincoast Books' Winter-Spring Preview of 2016 books! I'll be doing a recap on that sometime this week, but, all I can say was that it was fabulous! I ALSO RECEIVED TWO AMAZING BOOKS AND SWAG AND... you'll see that below, though.

My Book Haul:

BAM BAM BAMMM! My queen that I've been waiting a year for is finally in my grabby hands! Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas has a stellar cover and I can't wait to get inside Celaena/Aelin's world again, for the fifth time, counting the novellas! It has so many 5-starred reviews!

I can't believe what I had the pleasure of receiving from Raincoast at the event! TRUTHWITCH IS FINALLY IN MY HANDS, EVERYONE! After my horrible attempt of getting it (and signed) at BEA in May, I thought my chances were over for ever getting it before its release in January.

And I See Reality? It's also out in January, coming from Macmillan. I haven't heard about it before, but that was what the sneak-peek event was for! Twelve short stories about real life issues? It totally sounds like my kind of book. *winks*

*Thank you so much to Raincoast Books for these special goodies, and for inviting me to the event!*

Posts You May Have Missed:

What were your new additions this week? How are you? Have you read any of these books?

  3. Damn I still need to read Throne Of Glass. Alas. Glad to you see you got the new book in that series though, I know how people love them.

Anyway I've been wondering what Toronto is like for a while. After I leave college (which will admittedly be in a few years, I'm not even in college yet) I'm planning on fulfilling the Irish stereotype and emigrating. So far my shortlist is London (most likely), Vancouver, Toronto, New York and Chicago. So what's Toronto like as a city? I know that's super vague but I don't really know anything about it so I can't quite come up with detailed questions.

    1. YOU NEED TO. Finally you have heard of a book that I have adored! xD I'm so excited for this one!

Oooooh, Toronto! You have chosen the best places to head to, although I haven't been to London or Vancouver. Toronto is very diverse and unique compared to the average metropolis and I just love being there. The subway and transportation system is great, if that's what you're looking for, and there's always something to do! There's different parts of the city where different things are known to be in, like the richer areas with nicer stores. There's tons of museums and other tourist attractions (NIAGARA FALLS, WHICH IS 2 HOURS AWAY!) that you should go discover so you can discover what Canada is really about! Toronto's the heart of Canada, heh. Send me a message if you want to learn more, I'm always available! :)
